Meeting Minutes 3/28/2011

Attendance

 Kappa Sigma, Fiji, and Phi Kap were absent.

Announcements

- Campus Community Coalition will hold an open forum Wednesday March 30th at 6:30pm in the Hillel Multipurpose room

- Sign-up for the Campus Kitchen Corn Hole Tournament in the commons on thursday March 31st from 11:00am – 1:00pm. The tournament will be April 2nd from 12:00pm – 2:00pm

- Please fill out the CORE alcohol, drug, and sexual assault survey before April 8th

- Chi-O Chili Cook Off is this coming weekend

- For the next three weeks all Red Square Houses will be fined $500 if the system in tampered with. All fraternities must draw up a document stating that they accept liability for when their house is to be left unlocked. This document must be signed by all members of the fraternity

 -The Office of Enviromental Safety will be purchasing fire retardent black plastic that fraternities can purchase for parties. Contact Paul Burns to purchase it.

- Each fraternity has nominated a member to be Mr. W&L. Donations can be given using swipe machines next week in the commons.

- Neighbors Service League’s Spring Service Day will take place on Saturday April 2nd from 1:00pm – 4:00pm. Sign-ups are online on the W&L website

- Clay Coleman’s office will be holding workshops in the spring to help new officers transition into thier new roles

- The IFC voted to be a sponsor of “Stomp the Yard”

- Carol Garvis from Lexington Women’s Club selling pin wheels for Project Horizon to prevent child abuse. Contact Carol Garvis at Garvisc@wlu.edu if interested in donating. Please donate by Thursday the 24th.
- Jason Rodocker Campus Activities Farewell, April 3rd; Leadership Development opportunities. Summary of accomplishments of all student groups.
- EC Class Representatives elections are coming up, encourage any members who are interested to attend the information session this Thursday.

IFC Meeting 3/14/2011

Attendance

Phi Delt and Fiji were absent.

Announcements

Spring Fitness Challenge starts this week.

Fireside Chat with Peggy Reeves “Campus Sexual Cultures: Do they promote Acquaintance?” - Monday March 21st at 7:30pm at Stackhouse and Tuesday March 22nd at 5:30pm.

Taking Back the Night will take place on Tuesday March 15th at 7:00 PM at the Cohen Amphitheater.

SJC and EC officer elections are coming up. Encourage people to run if they are interested. Elections will be held Friday March 18th.

New member community service must be done by the end of pledgeship.

IFC is giving 50 dollars to Fancy Dress.

Run all Hill activities by Clay to make sure they are appropriate

All new members must complete reducing the risk with Jan Kaufman before the end of New Member Education

Meeting Minutes – 3/7/2011

Announcements

 - Day of Dialogue is this Sunday from 12-3. All New Members must attend.

- If you want New Members to be able to serve alcohol they must go through TIPS training.

- Greek housing assignments are due by March 31st

- Clay Coleman gave an update on the swipe card system

- Taking back the Night Tuesday March 15 at 7pm.

- Fireside Chat Tuesday March 22 at 5:30 in the Commons 214. Encourage all fraternities to send 2 members.

-Lamda and Phi Delt need to contact Jan Kauffman about scheduling Reducing the Risk

- Campus Sexual Cultures: Do they promote Acquaintance Rape? speech Monday  March 21st at 7:30 in Stackhouse.

- KA and Phi Psi have done a good job of having on-campus parties that are within the rules. They have set a good example for others to follow.

Meeting Minutes – 2/28/2011

- Day of Dialogue will be on Sunday March 13th. All New Members are required to attend along with two Sophomores/Juniors to act as facilitators
- There will be a panel discussion for Eating Disorder Awareness Week on Thursday night in Stackhouse Theater
- If you have not done so already, contact Clay Coleman to schedule a time for him to speak with you fraternity about Green Dot
- Greek housing assignments are due by March 31st
- All fraternities need to update their officer lists and send them to Clay Coleman
- New Member Educators need to speak with Jan Kaufman about scheduling Reducing the Risk. This is a required activity for New Members.
- All New Members must complete their required community service before Friday March 18th.

- 1 in 4 will be ordering cups for tear night and hosting sex signals on Janurary 23rd
- Fact: there have been more registered parties on campus this semester than all of last year
- Fact: November saw the lowest monthly number of trips to the health center in recent years
- There will be a meeting at 7:00 on Sunday January 9th for Presidents and New Member Educators
-Bo Dudley, of the Alumni Board, came to speak about their initiative to continually improve New Member Education

- New member education plans are due Monday by 5:00 PM to Clay Coleman
- Email the names and cell phone numbers of your New Member Educators to Woodie Hillyard by Monday at 5:00
- Email your no bid lists to Thomas Underhill by Monday at 5:00
- Make sure you have registered parties for Christmas Weekend and obtained noise permits
- Pick up trash from your Christmas Weekend parties
- Swipe card access in Red Square will begin over the next few weeks
